Jag,

Here you go. Pardon the pictures in the bathroom, but it has the most light without me taking the scope downstairs.

Close up of the finder. Nice thing is that it add weight to the back to better balance the scope

Mine gets delivered tomorrow.  I sure hope the weather will be nice. However, heard rumors of another heat wave coming.

With all of you getting the APM 152 it’s no wonder we got over 8” of rain yesterday. People on the East Coast stop buying scopes. Buy them in CA they need the rain!!!

Woo Hoo its Wednesday and its clear. So I setup this morning. The APM 152 got its first light. The chimney 500 feet away was perfectly clear. No I didn't do 600 power on it, but the chimney looked really good. No more talking, we like pictures, so here you go. The APM looks awesome on the G11. I hope the FBI doesn't come by asking why I have a howitzer in the back yard.

For aligning the finder I used a 20MM ES and a 5.5MM ES 100*

One more.. LOOKS good on the G11, I did have to decrease the angle limit otherwise it would hit the mount.

Beautiful set up. I also will be using a G11.   Great mount.  Really great looking scope.

Just curious as I've now seen this on three APM/Lunts.  Helder's test report claims a very good 0.93 Strehl, but the PTV testing reveals a 1/3.9 wave result.  The two APM 152EDs tested by Herr Rohr were similar; ~0.95 Strehl but PTV beteween 1/4.6 and 1/5.2 wave.  A few other big doublets (incluiding a cheapy Celestron Comet Seeker 6" f/5 achromat) tested similarly; 1/4.8 wave PTV and 0.967 Strehl in the case of the comet seeker.

I'm more used to seeing such high Strehls correlated with comparably high PTV wavefront test results.  Is there a reason big doublets would be different than other designs in this regard?

Thanks!

- Jim

Judging by your test report, this scope is 1/4 wave with a .93 strehl, am I correct?  Is this type of figure typical of these APM152 ?

I think that's APM's minimum standard.  And again, APM tests 100% of the objective.

APM or Kunming United Optics, the manufacturer, does the testing for the included report?  I though the test reports came from Kunming UO.  Though the two APM units with published independent test reports on astrofroen.de have tested pretty close to the included manufacturer test reports, which is a good thing.

Regards,

Jim

Jim,

My Stellarvue report is below, it tested worse than the APM and its 97 strehl. Its also tested at 95% while the APM was tested at 100%. I'm not an optician, so I can't answer your question, maybe its the edge?? The Stellarvue for AP, works great though, so in my case the WaveFront isn't affecting my imaging.
