I keep saving my location but it doesn’t seem to store the location is there a cmos battery on the controller hand paddle.?

Which mount do you have?  What is the version reported in the hand control menu?

The location data (and other static data like the DST setting and time zone) is stored in the PIC (the microcontroller chip in the hand controller). It's stored in non volatile memory so no battery back up is required (and there is no battery in the hand controllers).
