I'm not sure that will motivate them very well but I do feel your pain :-)

We have received the required code library from SkyWatcher and are working on incorporating it now.  There may still need to be some back and forth with the before we have something shippable.

Agree with all the accolades!  Bill and Sky Safari rock!

Looking forward to the release, even if we have to wait until Valentine's Day!

Apologies for the (now deleted) frustrated post last month. This effort started in August and it is now almost mid-January, hopefully Bill can give us an update.

While I can get AZ-GTi/SkySafari to work using both my iPad and iPhone in tandem, it is very cludgy with frequent lost connections which makes it totally unreliable. praying.gif  for some awesome news!

Sky-Watcher just released an update to the SynScan app that is supposed to eliminate dropped connections when your device goes to the lock screen. I’ve found that to be super annoying so hopefully that will ease things up a bit. Other than that, I have an old iPad I just leave on running SynScan and I use my newer iPad or iPhone to run SkySafari. Normally I don’t have connection problems as long as the old iPad stays running. I think the pointing accuracy is better with the SkySafari app...being able to align on the fly helps, too. It’s not perfect, but it does work!

Sorry, we have not made much progress on this in the past month or so.  Probably won’t be able to get back to if for a couple of months.

Very disappointing news, but thanks for the update. My plans on using SkySafari and the AZ-GTi with EAA for outreach with iOS devices will be abandoned for now.

In order to get this outreach setup going now than waiting months or longer, I decided to just bite the bullet and purchase a Samsung Galaxy android tablet for dedicated SkySafari/Az-GTi use. That will unfortunately also require having to buy the Android version of SkySafari, and fingers crossed that will work as intended as others have reported.

I am disappointed that SkySafari couldn’t get this working on iOS in anywhere near a reasonable time frame, but I have been supporting, using and loving SkySafari Pro for many years now from the early iPad 2 days and will just bite the bullet. Maybe SkySafari Pro on Android will go on sale this weekend when my Galaxy arrives... bawling.gif

If I am not mistaken the Android version of SkySafari is free

Bagwell, you are mistaken.  It is the same price as iOS.

Sorry for the delays.  We are a small company and I'm only able to work half time on SkySafari right now.  Much of that time is spent supporting the existing code.  We have another high priority project that is soaking up a lot of bandwidth for the next 2 months.

Bill, I guess I saw the regular version.  I see the Pro version costs money.  Thanks for correcting me.

Bill, you guys said you were working on this since last August, but just got the code mid-Dec and now late Jan not a priority. I just got home with a new Galaxy which I am setting up now. About to spend 39.99 for Android version since you guys didn’t get this done since August. Not to mention I can’t move the add-ons from ios. Any love for a user in this position?

I bought one of these azgti's yesterday.

After with playing around trying to get skysafri 6 working and quite a bit of frustration, I finally worked out a solution.

Mind you I will be glad when, sky safari supports it directly. :)

I installed the skywatcher windows app, connected it in station mode so my local wifi covers all devices etc eg iphone/ipad/laptops and desktop computer

I then ran sky safari 6 on ipad/iphone and it all worked perfectly.

Looking froward to getting under a clear sky for road test.

Clive.

Stop bashing SkySafari devs for what is an IOS problem, they can't help it if IOS can't do 2 things at once ... SkySafari is an excellent software, IOS can't multitask.

Darn, I was about to buy skysafari 6 plus for ios but not if it isn't working with the az-gti. I'll wait and hope these two companies can start communicating sooner than later.

After further looking into this, I did actually buy it because I saw that connecting an ipad into the device running synscan would allow sky safari to control the mount. The problem was that when I tried connecting my ipad running sky safari to my iphone which was running the synscan pro app it would not connect to the iphone. Both were on the synscan wifi and the IP addresses used were verified as correct. I then used my old Android Galaxy S5 to run synscan pro and then the ipad running sky safari had no trouble connecting to the Android phone and then sky safari could control the mount. If the iphone is the one running synscan pro though then no other ios devices running sky safari will connect to it. I don't see a reason why the device running synscan pro should have to be android but apparently it does? Anyone else know if an ios device running synscan pro can be connected to by another ios device running sky safari for mount control?

Yes, iPad (running SkySafari) should connect to the iPhone (running Synscan), just as you think it should.  I used to do this quite a lot before I started just using Synscan for PC.  iPad(SkySafari) will also connect to PC(Synscan).   It will be really great if/when Skysafri can comminicate direct to AZ-GTi.  That it can’t at present isn’t an issue of SkySafari lacking, it’s because iOS doesn’t truly multitask in the way Android and PC does.  Kudos to Simmulation Curriculum for stepping up and taking a swing at this anyway!

Doesn't work for me. When my iphone runs synscan no other ios devices running sky safari can connect to it. No issue connecting to the android phone if it is the one running synscan. Beats me. Configuration is the same from what I can tell.

Does the skysafari app on android connect directly into the mount? Do you still have to align the mount with synscan pro on the android and then connect directly to the mount?

I'm sorry, but the person that was working on this got pulled off onto something deemed more critical.  He should be back on the SkyWatcher Wi-Fi in a few more weeks.  It is really out of my control.

If I were to buy a Synscan handset to use with my AZ-Gti and then connect my iPhone to the handset via a SkyWire connection, would I be able to use Sky Safari for go-to's without the need to have two iOS devices going?

I already own a SkyWire but would need the Synscan handset and a serial cable that works with Synscan.

Trying to figure out some way to just use one iOS device.  Two is just too unstable for me... one of them goes to sleep and game over.

Tim
