Tim,

I would assume that would work but you might need to ask SkyWatcher.   Does the AZ-Gti not come with a hand controller at all?

Thanks Bill. No, it doesn’t come with a handset. I think they cost about $120 or so. I’m thinking that it would work too.

So the problem is primarily with iOS devices?

I just bought a refurbished Google Nexus 7 2nd gen specifically for using with telescopes and SkySafari 6.

My new Nexus 7 should circumvent all of these issues, correct?

I use SkySafari 6 on my 2nd gen Nexus 7.   Works fine.

Used Android SkySafari 6 tonight with my AZ GTi, worked perfectly.

I bought a refurbished Google Nexus 7" 2nd gen off eBay for $50, there are loads of them available.

This is a much better solution than running two iOS devices just so one can use SkySafari with SynScan.

Any updates on a Sky Safari update so that it will work with the AZ-GTI on just one iOS device?

Due to scheduling decisions beyond my control, we still haven't finished implementing this yet.  I really hope it will be done in a month or two.

I just got the AZ-GTi and was looking forward to using it with SkySafari Plus. Was disappointed to learn of the iOS limitation, but I'm glad to see the vendor is working on it.

Please let us know how progress is going smile.gif

Still having no luck with two iOS devices getting this to run. An iOS device running sky safari will simply not connect to the iOS devIce running synscan. IPs are correct. Something is blocking the connection on the iOS device running synscan. No issue with an iOS device connecting to an android device running synscan. Help please?

Dave, I am the OP. After waiting months and months for these two vendors to work together and provide a solution, I broke down and bought a nice Samsung tablet and full-priced version of Skysafari Pro for android. I am still very much disappointed we were told it was being worked on but then not so much, but time heals old wounds as the saying goes. :)

This combo works perfectly with Android, so I got tired of waiting and pulled out the pocket book. This is a very niche use of Skysafari it seems, but with more straight-forward responses I could have bit the bullet and been operational many months sooner rather than waiting.

That being said, I am still a very loyal supporter of SkySafari and have always bought the latest Pro version, so please no white knights :)

I already have a Samsung tablet and old android phone that I use but some times it’s convenient to just use my iPhone and iPad because they are always close by. It’s supposed to work by connecting to a second iOS device from sky safari but it doesn’t. I’ve tried on two separate iPhones running synscan and neither would accept a connection from an iPad running sky safari.

I was able to get the seperate iOS devices to work a few times, but always ended up loosing connection during a session. Convenience is not an option here, it is use what works or find another option. I have SkyFafari with the add-ons on my iOS devices, so was not really pleased paying for the android version. I asked about a discount for folks with this issue that have to buy an Android license to get it to work, and never heard anything.

This thread probably needs to be locked?

Did you guys try this two-device-workaround with a Windows device? Because I tried it on my laptop: Windows 10, SynScan app downloaded from skywatcher.com, connect it to the mount and align it to the sky then connect SkySafari on my iPhone to the laptop. It works like charm, tried it many times! The only think you need to take care about is not to let your laptop sleeping.

But beyond this, yes, I'm still waiting for the native SkySafari SynScan support. Just because I don't like to bring out my laptop under the sky...

If they are not going to fix it for iOS then we should get a free download for android since we will have to invest in that platform.  Very frustrating.......

well as this not an official support for for SkySafari I am not sure why they should be reading it. As software developers they have to focus their efforts on what they deem as high profile issues. It maybe that the number of people interested in this is small and it is hard to fix therefore would be down their list. I doubt that ranting about it on here will help.
