Which way? Counterclockwise from the front?

Thanks!

Oops, new 2x more sensitive one just released, wonder what actual difference it makes when it gets really DARK?!

Peter

I had expected as much.

I am sure that the price will reflect the improved performance.

I like my SiOnyx but I think even with this kind of improved performance, there is a pretty big gap between this and the best NV equipment.  I can see things in my EBI testing in the image tubes when the SiOnyx only produces a wall of dense noise.

Better is better though, but for me, it is totally a supplemental device and until it exceeds the performance of Gen 3, I have no interest in upgrading.

I am betting that before long it will show up in an EAA camera offering though....

Yes, the sensitivity is nowhere close to Gen 3. I would have been ok with it even if at a shutter speed of 1/4s it could provide me color views comparable to Gen 3 but unfortunately its not there yet. I can live with the slower shutter speed.

From the press release it is not clear how they measure 2x. Is it across the spectrum? Does it require IR illumination?

What's new in the race between Aurora and Gen 2, Gen 3?

The battery packed opsin head mounted device is a bit better than the Aurora pro, no additions to the Aurora line (though the sport at least has been dropped). Still somewhat behind gen3 for super dark situations. Carpe nocturnum on YouTube has some videos and comments. Still waiting for a significant performance improvement.
