M29 is not the most spectacular cluster of the Messier list, but it makes a fine sight nonetheless. The brightest stars that form "the cooling tower" really stand out, but a lot of dimmer stars can be seen as well from my somewhat dark site close to home (SQM 20.6), the weakest one that I saw was m15.3. If you've never sketched an open cluster before, try this one... It's bright, not too rich and small enough to move many background stars out of the FOV. Good luck and enjoy smile.png

Regards, Martijn

Good job Martijn. You are right, it is a good cluster to start drawing, but even in a simple cluster, correctly placing the stars is delicate and necessary enough time. You have placed the stars very correctly, congratulations.
A greeting.

Fine sketch Martijn!  I agree that this is a good target for someone who has not sketched an open cluster...actually it's a good target for any sketcher and yours is beautiful!

Regards,

Randolph

Cool beans, an often overlooked summer OC, thanks for sharing.
