After imaging Mars, I turned the telescope onto the moon, and imaged the crater Tycho with the same setup. As before I recorded four minute AVI files at a resolution of 1096 X 1936 pixels which lead to capturing about 3,800 frames apiece. I combined four into one AVI file with PIPP to get rid of the bad frames and then stacked 2,500 frames out of the 10,000 frames in the new AVI file.

Nice detail.

Have you tried the SharpCap "seeing monitor" to only save "good" images to disk?

What setup did you use?

I use an 8-inch Celestron EdgeHD, Televue 2X and 3X Barlows, a ZWO atmospheric dispersion corrector, and a ZWO ASI 290MC camera. I am using a Celestron AVX mounting.

Cool, did you use 2X and 3X together at the same time then?

Thank you very much

No, usually I use the 2X Barlow, or simply use the camera at prime focus depending on the seeing and the field of view I want. On rarer nights when the seeing is steady enough and the subject is very small, I use the 3X Barlow. I used a 2X Barlow to take the picture of Tycho.

I  haven't, and in fact I  never heard of it.
