nice find    rv-6 in New Hampshire

They just aren't worth any where near that much, the 'new old stock' idea doesn't make that high a price.  I wouldn't go near $500 even. YMMV.

No need to worry about a buyer parting it out, it would never get it's money back by parting at that price.  The drive correctors are typically bad if not usafe and other than paperwork there isn't much for pricy accessories. no moon pad legs even.  Add shipping?

I would not pay $500 if i had to pay for shipping.  That would be another $200 to ship to me.

Right   not worth the money    seller will have to learn that as time goes by   the NOS aspect is appealing in my view if you were going to display a piece as part of  a collection     RV6   not a rare bird

yes  shipping is extra    as Augustus says  it would need a  more moderate price and  a local pick up by one of us  connecticut/mass/vermont/nhampshire folks  meanwhile    not exactly the best time of year for selling   more likely sales  at the end of January when folks refocus their position for the upcoming year

the Cave  near Hartford is more interesting  and still tickles out interest

The 80mm Selsi, that's an APL made scope right?

Yes.  These shorty 80mm Selsis have been popping up a lot lately.  Overpriced by about a hundred, at least.  Shipping is reasonable but the seller has underestimated it.

It's not certain that APL made their own optics, though.  Everyone I've tested has been "good" or better, however.

I got my Astro Optical [Lafayette] 76x910 OTA with 40x500 guidescope for $100 here on CN.  Paid $125 for the Polaris GEM, so $225 for a serious C80 challenger with that bonus 40mm "long" scope that's virtually CA-free.  I'm an A-O fan, but IIRC, most of these came with the 60mm GEM rather than the beefier 76mm GEM (like my 6336); and, honestly, neither mount comes close to the Vixen.

IOW:  $200 for an average kit (scope & mount); $275 for a mint version that's near 100% complete.

I would go $500 for that RV6.

Still to much!

Ouch on that price. I guess if it is really mint i could see spending 2300 smackers.  Never had one.

Also, still too much!

New condition RV-6 scopes still show up for under $200.  I got mine for $125, locally so no shipping.  Came with eyepieces and books.  Third owner.

There isn't a 6-inch Newtonian on the planet that's worth $500, IMO.

Case is in better condition than the one I recently bought.

I stand corrected!  The GEM looks like the 60mm, but is a heftier version -- like the Hino mount for my P-100.

See:  A-O was smarter than Bomber Bob (y'all could at least pretend to be surprised).

$1500 i would jump.  As for Newts, they just don't pop up around me or at least the classics.  I am done buying until i thin out some scopes after New year.

There is to me. The Cave 6" with the 1.5" shaft mount would be nice.

RV6, shipping is kind of expensive for me but if you're in the Mid-Atlantic area it's probably cheaper

I have a Cave 6" Student deluxe, 1" shaft mount.  I also have two Cave 1.5" shaft mounts.  Those are too big for a 6" f/8.  The 1" shaft mount is perfect for the 6", IMO.  I'd never stick the 6" on the 1.5" shaft mount.  It would probably never get used.  The Cave 1" shaft mount is much more steady than both the RV6 and Edmund 1" shaft mount.  More massive, faster damping.

What you are proposing is a 6" scope on a mount made for larger scopes.  Not a common factory setup.

I did not pay $500 for the Cave.  Much less.

It's raining RV6s.

This RV6 (pick up only), has been on the bay before but I'm not sure at this price.

First photo is not of the actual scope. IMO he needs to drop the first one and get better photos of the actual scope to sell it.

If you look at any classic scope on ebay the link to this set of Unitron eyepieces seems to show up.

Taking into account the high starting bid plus having all of them but the 7mm (I have the 5mm instead), I'm not tempted.

Still, kind of a nice boxed set if you really need some.

Nice.  Not a bad price for a Powerstar.  Far from killer, but looks decent.  It has the better tripod.  The dec drive is there and it has the illuminated finder.  What I can tell is whether it has the electric focuser.
