Were you shooting at a dark sky sight?  I ask because I have so so skies, and I when shoot that long it is pretty over exposed.

Yes, it's probably a Bortle 3 class site. It helps to be in the desert southwest with very dry air. Plus it was a really good night seeing wise and dark once the moon set.

Thanks.... we gave up at our site before the moon went down.

Aww man, thats almost like unfair beautiful considering i've had grey skies straight for 2 months now, its beautiful, i'll admit its now my desktop photo.
