Hi Daniele,

Thank you for sharing this great picture! For 127mm aperture this is very good, indeed.

Your workflow is interesting. What do you mean with "DIY script"`to correct for field rotation? What does DIY stand for? Anyway, good to know that you found a solution to the field rotation problem.

All the best,
Rolf

DIY is "Do It Yourself". People who make things themselves or perform certain kinds of repairs or upgrades are DIY'ers. A person who replaced the sink in their bathroom instead of hiring a professional is a DIY'er.

I would also be interested in learning about the field rotation script.

Dear Rolf,

by DIY I meant "do it yourself"! lol.gif

This is just a simple script that I have written for Windows Powershell using the image magick engine to rotate the pictures.

A basic version of the script is reported in this old post in this thread: https://www.cloudyni...dpost&p=9982326

Best, Daniele

Hi Daniele and Jeffry7,

Thank you for the explanation! I was searching in the wrong direction, trying to figure out which astronomical software could be abbreviated as "DIY".  smile.gif

"Do it yourself" is always a good idea! I'm glad it worked in your case.

All the best,

 Rolf

Hi,

This "epic thread" has been going on for about two years now. Many of you actively contributed to the discussion which was a big help in the process to make the software mature and useful for many application scenarios. I thank you all very much for your dedication and patience!

Now it is time to organize the discussion in a better way. I suggest that we split it in two threads.

  • The thread "Program features and user experience" will be the place where we discuss program features, questions regarding the "best practice" in application scenarios, and wishes for new features to be added in future releases. Of course I would love also to hear from you if you have produced great pictures using PSS, and to see the results there.
  • The thread "Installation issues" will be the place where we discuss installation issues on the various hardware platforms and OS versions. These discussions in the past used much space in this thread, and I can imagine that this was painful for those of you who were only interested in program features and further developments.

I hope that we don't loose contact in this transition process. If you followed this thread, It would be great if from now on you followed the new threads (or one of them). I'm very much looking forward to the continued exchange with you on PSS in this new setting.

All the best,

 Rolf

Thank you for this wonderful program!

It worked great with a .ser video file what I processed in PIPP, but when I want to process a 4K .mp4 file, the PSS quits to desktop after aligning the frames. Can I find any log or anything about the actual error somewhere?

Thank you!

My above attempt to close this "epic thread" and continue the discussion in two specialized new threads does not seem to work so well. I will ask the moderators if there is a way to block new postings here.

At the same time, however, I understand that you did not post your message in one of the other threads because none of them really fits to your case. Therefore I created a third thread where one can report and discuss execution problems, such as program crashes. I know that there is no clear cut between that thread and the one on installation issues, because sometimes the program crashes at startup, for any input data, because of a failed installation. But in your case where the program worked for a .ser file, something else must be the reason.

I will continue the discussion on the new thread.

All the best,

 Rolf
