Yeah, close enough now that I'm starting to get excited too. I live close enough that I just make a

fun day trip out of it on Saturday.

I plan to go. The lectures/presentations are worth the trip even if you don't care about the vendors.

Any idea if there is a schedule for the lectures/sessions? I keep checking but the link is still broken.. getting close and travelling far so having that in hand would be helpful for planning.

The NEAF website still lists vendors for 2018 and the "TBA" (with under 2 weeks to go) speaker/event list is a dead link. Will these be updated before the show?

I contacted them at the phone number at this link.  bottom left.  It is the only contact info I can find.

Maybe if a lot of people call they will get the schedule updated.

That's not going to get you any where. The guy that's running NEAF is up to his **** with a ton of other things and checking a endless list of voice mail will only increase the chance that it will never go up. I'll be talking with him tomorrow and try to impress upon him the need to get it posted.

Are you serious on the measles thing?

I was just thinking of cancelling my trip and hotel room due to a big unexpected tax bill, the need to replace an appliance and a new large medical bill that popped up.  Being immuno-suppressed this makes keeping my trip and reservation harder not to abandon.

The restriction about measles is for those under 18. It is not about adults.

If you have other health issues, then it is really up to you.

Here's the link to the Rockland Emergency Directive: http://rocklandgov.c...ncy_Signed.pdf

The risk for me is if a proof of vaccination will be demanded before entry, for adults.  That isn't indicated now (only under 18 so far), but who knows.. still a week to go.

I and my wife have long since lost our vaccination documentation for measles.  (We're trying to get fresh vaccinations before our flights..just for the paper ).  But if we get blocked at the door, or, if the health department shuts it down,  then flight, hotel, car rental will be money down the drain.

Really sorry folks, not my intent to cause everyone anxiety.. pls don't shoot the messenger..

I've asked here and on the NEAIC thread, I've pm'd the gentleman on here that's in the NEAIC organization team, and I've left voicemail on their RAC helpline.  Crickets so far..

Hold on everyone do us all a favor before posting any thing about NEAF or NEAIC regarding Measles in NY, here is the number if you have questions "New York State Department of Health Measles Information Line (888) 364-4837"

Uh. Hold up there.

You bet this has concerns for attendees on a few levels and the event organizers should be working to ensure attendees are aware of these developments, not only so that they can make a decision for their own health, but also so that they do not inadvertently run afoul of the county's emergency order. I was set to bring my 6 month old up with me and I found out about both the extent of the outbreak and the institution of the emergency order through this thread, and I'm thankful for it. As long as the information being posted is authoritative and not conjecture (such as the Rockland County Govt press release - you can't get more authoritative than that) it does have relevancy.

I also highly suggest that the NEAF+NEAIC website should include NY state and Rockland County government-sourced information on this issue, as well as an email sent to those registered for the events to alert them to that information because they may not be aware of what's going on if they don't follow local news or this thread. The county has termed this as a local State of Emergency. This is a Big Deal.

Folks, Bob has responded to my PM now and he is running it up the flagpole with the organizing team.  I'm standing down and hope to hear back from them.  As always do your own research and make your own decisions.  Good luck everyone and thank you Bob for escalating.

[cc'd to the NEAIC thread as well ]

The CDC has a useful website regarding measles. I found it via Google. Anyway, I found this FAQ answer useful:

Q: Am I protected against measles?
A: CDC considers you protected from measles if you have written documentation (records) showing at least one of the following:

  • You received two doses of measles-containing vaccine, and you are a(n)—
    • school-aged child (grades K-12)
    • adult who will be in a setting that poses a high risk for measles transmission, including students at post-high school education institutions, healthcare personnel, and international travelers.
  • You received one dose of measles-containing vaccine, and you are a(n)—
    • preschool-aged child
    • adult who will not be in a high-risk setting for measles transmission.
  • A laboratory confirmed that you had measles at some point in your life.
  • A laboratory confirmed that you are immune to measles.
  • You were born before 1957.

Especially the last bullet, since that applies to me. I definitely had measles early in the '60s, but who is going to go to the trouble of having a lab verify it?

A booster won't hurt but is likely not indicated.

https://www.usatoday...red/2846268002/

Do I need a booster vaccine?

No. People who received the two recommended doses of the measles vaccine as children are protected for life, according to the CDC.

I had measles. Do I need a vaccine?

No, if you were infected by measles, mumps, or rubella in the past, you are immune, according to the CDC. Most people born before 1957 are considered immune because largely everyone was infected at that time, when vaccines were not available.
