The latest shipment of AT115's, that just got to Astronomics, are already gone and it's back to "wait list"....

I'm glad I had my name on the pre-order list, mine was delivered on Wed snoopy2.gif

Yep. I got mine today. Just unboxed it. I was surprised at that all-silver back end. Doesn't look like any pic I've seen of a 115EDT, and certainly doesn't look like the accompanying "documentation" (1 page).

Based on my experience, I bet you're going to really like that scope. I had to wait for mine too but that's all forgotten now.

I got mine today too. Here's a couple pics...

The scope is a lot bigger than I thought. I'm thinking my Porta II mount will cringe when it sees this puppy! My C80ED is sitting next to it for comparison.

And man is it front heavy! That's a lot glass in the front.

Lots of baffles!

Dew shield and cover slide smoothly and are on the snug side. I prefer them that way.

The 2" to 1.25" adapter seems has some powdery residue on it that streaks when I run my finger on it. Either needs a good cleaning or maybe the finish is a little wonky.

The rest of the scope has a beautiful finish with no blemishes.

The large focuser knob is smooth but very tight and has a touch of uneven feel. Will probably need to adjust some tension settings. The fine focus knob is very smooth and has the perfect feel.

It sure looks puuuurty!

We were able to go back to our Aston Martin Grey anodize.  It was what we had on our 111 and were lucky enough to get back to it for the EDT and ED series.  We are sending it off for beauty shots and will have an updated info/manual.

Thanks Michael. I thought it looked familiar, but I knew it wasn't on a 115. Anyway, the scope is a thing of beauty! It arrived in absolutely perfect condition. Now if only the skies would clear ...

The 115's and 130's are tremendous values. I have had both but now have the 152. It is also a tremendous value but a lot more expensive than the smaller scopes. As a result the smaller scopes sell faster. Congratulations on your new scope.

Our local dealer Altair Astro have also received their shipment of 115EDT a couple of days ago. I suppose they will be gone pretty quickly too. There is a removable section at the back of the OTA on the latest version for easier transportation and binoviewers.

I had an AT115EDT and really wish I had it back.  Price/performance almost amounted to grand optical larceny.  Very impressive on planets and I loved the stock focuser.

One night, I was planning to do an A/B comparison between it and a Genesis-SDF.  The latter stayed in the car.  All night.  The AT115EDT is THAT good.

Clear Skies,

Phil

Yep. I got mine today. Just unboxed it. I was surprised at that all-silver back end. Doesn't look like any pic I've seen of a 115EDT, and certainly doesn't look like the accompanying "documentation" (1 page).

It looks exactly like the focuser on the new AT92.

I love the return of the "gunmetal" Bond Aston Martin DB6 color on the focuser.

Looks like the back end of the old AT111EDT.

I bought one last year from a guy who wanted to get back into astronomy so bought an AT115EDT sometime in late 2017 to early 2018 and never had it outside before he realized he was not going to be able to do astronomy again after all. This is the second time in my life I have bought a very good scope that was never used by the first owner (my TEC140 was the same way). I had the guy deliver it to my brother about 50 miles away for visits but have never looked thru one myself as I have enough APOs at my place. Someday I will get to visit and use it.

The scope looks good but I'm uncertain about the newer style of focuser. I have the AT115 and AT72 equivalents from TS with the previous removable pinion; being able to remove the pinion makes adjustment easy and both of my scopes needed adjustment. I imagine the cast pinion body is a cost saving idea.

Yep, I wish they hadn't changed the focuser. I didn't know that was coming. Now I'm scrambling to find an autofocus option.
