Looking for some solid rings. The OD of the body is 66mm. When looking for solid ring sets should they also be 66mm or can it be a bit smaller to be snug? What's the rule here?

Thanks

I find tripod mount rings for DSLR lenses work - they come in many sizes. I got one off eBay, with a diameter of exactly 66mm - it fit perfectly. Could also get a 68mm one (it's a common size) and just add felt padding

I noticed this as well , is it right such that it does not wiggle? I'd need two of these and then I'd have to drill the rail for a 1/4 20 screw hole.

Yep. I have an older 60mm guide f9 scope that I plan to mount this way. Even have a lightweight bar I can use that came with an early cut many years ago.

Well I ordered 65mm ID rings such that it will be a tight fit. 2 rings are less than $10. They dont look bad at all. I hope I get lucky and the FOV of my 735mm scope will be within the FOV of the 230mm guider. It would certainly make things more convenient.
