Dave's just a great guy

Yes, he is.  How many Tinsley pedestal EQ mounts show up for sale?  Thanks to him, my antique Cassegrain is complete.

Thanks Guys! It's such a pleasure have such fine folks to share this hobby!

Anyone want to go in halvsies for these classic bubble levels? Seller won’t sell separately and I don’t need $45 worth of them. The black painted ones look like brass and thought one would look great polished up and mounted on the Televue Panoramic Mount with the brass Renaissance and maybe one of the chrome ones on the C8. I’m sure some of these would look great on our classics!!! If someone else or enough are interested I’ll get them. If someone wants all of them less one of the black and maybe one of the chrome ones then let me know.

Really nice Manon

That would be a good price, and it looks very good.

I haven't seen the finder attaching onto the focuser before.  Nor have I seen a Manon with the Styrofoam inserts.  And I haven't seen a wood box painted grey before either.

It just makes me think it could be about a 1970 or newer vintage.  The one I had from 1967 did not have Styrofoam.

Is the lens, cell, and dew shield in the paper bag?  If not where is it?

I don't know if I've seen a white and gray one with styrofoam inserts before, but have seen some with the finder on the focuser.

BS-Manon-on-Box.jpg

My black and silver Manon has both of those features.

I believe there are 4 finder base styles.

On the tube back slant

On the focuser straight

On the focuser back slant

On the tube straight

That said, 'on the tube straight' might only be found on the SYW made Mayflower 814's.

BTW, I think a previous owner painted the box.

Didn't see this posted here yet.  Seems like a pretty good deal on a C14 with hyperstar and mount

If you look close, you can see the paint lapping onto the badge. It wasn't originally grey.  Although the other hardware seems to have been taken off when it was painted.

And I haven't seen a wood box painted grey before either.

Kenko cassegrain $350

Looks mint, and shipping included.  Optics appear to be the same Corrected Dall-Kirkham as that Kenko 125C that I owned a while back.  But, I got the scope + KES (Kenko Equatorial System) mount for $300.

(Note that the eyepieces are identical to those bundled with both the Pentax J Series and Bushnell Banner Series Japan-made imports.)

My 125C was a better high power planetary than the same age white tube C5 spotter that I had at the time -- very refractorish compared to the SCT.

SYW Mayflower 814, $220 shipped.

https://www.cloudyni...f12-syw-optics/

Looks nearly identical to the APL Manon on eBay, except the finder is mounted on the tube, and the paint is smooth instead of crinkle coat. Even that same styrofoam.

This looks like it was an instant classic.  Designed to compete with the AP 10" Mak.  anyone know anything about these?

30+ years ago, I got to look through a $10,000 custom-made 10" Mak-Cass.  Wonder how it would do against the APM and AP versions?   I'd NEVER spend that much money on a scope, but the owner back then didn't think it was exorbitant...

It's about 15 lbs heavier than the new AP 10" MCT, which has numerous optimizations (ordered one 20 years ago, coming soon).

Saturn spotting scope with what's left of an old mount.

If it doesn't say Tinsley on the label, is it still a Tinsley?

Yes, that's a Tinsley -- "Saturn" was their consumer / amateur astronomer line of scopes.  My 6" Cass is a Saturn, too.
