I live in Spartanburg, sc. Anyone on CN from the greenville/Spartanburg area know of clubs here? Or want to know people with the same interests and live near you. I encourage to post on here. It would be helpful to me and other newbies trying to find others to help em out.

I'm in Kansas, but I've used this website before to help connect a friend to an astronomy club near him. Here are the results for SC. LINK

Type in your zip code and this site will tell you local clubs and a calendar of their events.

If you don't mind driving up here, we have an excellent club in Asheville.  https://www.astroasheville.org/   It has about 150-160 members, tho' only a small percentage are active observers.  We  normally get 60-75 folks at monthly indoor meetings at UNC-A; I think our record is 106.

We've got two observatories, one on a fairly dark mountaintop @ 4100' in the next county north, the other on campus in town, built & operated in partnership with the university.  We normally schedule two stargazes a month, skies permitting.

Come on up!

Another club happy to have you, as visitor or member, is Catawba Valley Astronomy Club in Maiden, NC. We have public nights on 1st and 3rd Friday every month and have a great observatory, the only freestanding high school observatory in NC, with a 10" f/9.2 Newtonian. Lots of club-owned telescopes, up to a 25" f/4.5 Dobsonian. We do a lot of off-site viewing nights , mostly at Paddy's Creek Access of Lake James State Park west of Morganton, and go several times a year to mount Mitchell Overlook on the BRP, which is at 4000 feet.

Check out our website :
