Picked this one up Sunday. Looks like an early 155 or 160 4" Photographic Equatorial. Very nice condition mainly needing lots of cleaning. A few missing items but mostly all there.

Nice. I got one like that in where the guidescope fits in the main box.  Did it come with the electric drive on the tripod shelf?

This mount has a partial gear for declination. Haven't seen that system before but I suspect its and early to mid 50's? Lens Cell says Unitron 102mm FL 1500mm.

No its missing the drive and the shelf. But it does have the tray light in very nice condition with no battery corrosion.

Hello Rolo,

It appears that your telescope was originally fitted with a weight drive, not an AC drive.. Any chance the seller still has it somewhere along with the weights and supporting shelf?

It is a 160 missing the weight drive. Did you get the tripod tray with roller that the weight drive sits on? Love the focuser with vernier scale, most don't have that feature!

I bought it from a lady who recently got it at a garage sale. It's missing the tray and the drive. I'm contacting her to see if she can contact the original seller to look for the missing parts.

Great find!  The Model 160V with "Focusing Scale" was first advertised in April 1957: https://www.unitronh...7_04_vmodels_a/.

Congrats!! I remember going into a camera/telescope store in Milwaukee in the early 80s and seeing a 4" Unitron set up in the showroom. It looked so big!!

Marvelous   1950's 4 inch Unitron at an estate sale    at least she found the right guy to place it with.

Can't wait til you have time to set it up and take a pic or two.  It might look good in the garage in a state of readiness  next to the Big AP 180   But I bet it looks good in living room family room any room

6 miles from home?

Sometimes a scope finds you

Got to love Unitron finds of this type.  They show up in the most unusual places.   The only parts for the weight drive system I have that are extra is the rollers that go on the metal tray.  I also have some extra parts that connect the metal tray to the tripod legs.   I do have a motor drive that sits on the metal tray.  Wish I could be of more help.  I have to count the metal trays I have to see if I have an extra one, but I do not think so.
