I have Sony ARW files (raw) that I want to convert into something usable by Pixinsight.

I went into Pixinisght's Batch Format Conversion tool and specified .fits as the output.

That seemed to do it. However, my calibrations resulted in pretty much all my stars being destroyed. A peek at my .fits files showed that there seems to be a loss in dynamic range. I'm not sure.

How do you convert ARW files to something usable by PI?

I don't use Pixinsight, but you can convert ARW files to .jpg or TIFF with the Sony software:

Or use Adobe DNG:

I'm not running the latest version of PixInsight - I'm using version 01.08.05

However it opens Sony A7S raw files quite happily and they can be used directly (e.g in BatchPreprocessing) without any conversion.
