- 5 f outside at 5 am, but  i took my 12 inch dob outside and got to view the planets for the first time in weeks.   although jupiter was only 23 degrees up at my location, i got a pretty decent view with my meade  hd 9mm and meade hd 6.5 mm eyepieces.   and this was the first time i ever viewed venus,... pretty cool. it looked like a half moon. and venus was apprx. 17 degrees up at 6 am..  finally, i viewed saturn at apprx. 15 degrees up ( it was real close to venus).  it was pretty decent, even at such a low altitude.   the planets are low at my location this year, but i was thrilled to view them anyways.  after this long cloudy winter, ill take what i can get..  it felt so good to get out and look up again, cold, but awesome!

I can't make myself go out in these temps with jet stream overhead, you're tougher than me.

You are dedicated.  By comparison, it was balmy at 31 F in my location this morning while I was observing these planets.
