I think Al's son is David Nagler, not Mike.  But you make a good point.  Televue is a good organization with good people.

Yes, you are right. I got my names wrong. Duh.

It's green, and I really enjoyed its first night out tonight before the sky clouded over.

I was kind of hoping for a ball cap before the scope showed up, but I think Al Nagler's

signature is actually way more cool.

Each of my Tele Vue scopes came accompanied by TV ball caps.  I talked with TV last week.  I asked about a hat (for a friend).  They are currently out of stock.  That may explain why one didn't come with your scope.

Hello, I'm looking for a drawtube or complete focuser for my Tele Vue Renaissance, and it seems all the Tele Vue owners are in this thread.

Any ideas where to get parts for the Renaissance?

Drawtube, focuser, case?

Is your drawtube black & not brass? Both my 102 & 85 Renaissances have black OE draw tubes which I may have to have bespoke brass ones made to replace them. All photos online show brass drawtubes.

102 is #1064, 85 is B-117.

Call Tele Vue.  They are very helpful on the phone.

I think I've discovered why my 2 Renaissance refractors have matt black and not polished brass draw tubes in their focusers.

All the photos show those with brass draw tubes have the single top thumbscrew. Both mine have the newer, current twin top thumbscrews. So it seems my Renaissances have different units. Perhaps TV ran out of the older focusers but still had brass OTAs & fixings left.

In August I purchased a 13 year old TV76, in the original unopened box. A company in Kansas had been a dealer and had a bunch of old new Televues. When I received it I was pleasantly impressed. It is a very nice, compact scope, with all the accessories. I also got a Telepod mount and tripod too. This is a great grab and go scope. It also looks nice in the family room, and my wife agreed.

My first viewing was on Jupiter and Saturn. Nice sharp views. The other night I tried it on Mars. I was shocked on what I saw using a Burgess/TMB 5mm Planetary ep. It was very sharp from limb to limb. The last time I saw Mars in 2003, I used a Celestron 6” refractor. I prefer what I saw with the TV76. I have also used it for scanning the skies, like the Lagoon and Trifid nebulas.
