I recently bought a pre-owned Helios Quantum 6 20/26/32 semi-APO bino (see my other topic) which is also being sold a long time under other brands like Apogee (in the USA), APM,TS (in Europe),...

The helical focussers on my bino are very stiff, the colder its get, the harder it becomes to turn them. It seems this is being caused by the used grease, so I want to regrease them with thinner and less sticky grease. Has someone does this before and what is the way to go? Do I have disassemble the focussers or can I apply new grease from the outside? Input is welcome!

It might be a good idea to get the opinion of a reputable optical repair company like Suddarth Optical Repair before you attempt this yourself (SuddarthOptical@yahoo.com). Cory is the owner and is highly regarded here on Cloudy Nights.
