Dates are Sept. 21-29. This year we will seek to do without the monsoon.

Never too early:

Yes, I am excited about going. Can't wait. I have been an avid amateur astronomer for almost 30 years but have never seen skies outside of Tennessee. I have never seen truly dark skies. I am thrilled beyond belief.

It will be 20 years at Camp Billy Joe. Last year was the 20th from the last Soakie-Tex. My exposure log from Okie-Tex 1999 had 4 good nights. This was my film log. I usually took a night or two break from imaging in those days to rove around at Okie-Tex and TSP. I was still manually guiding.

Okie-Tex certainly has grown in size over the years.

I've observed a fair amount of places over the years, but Okie-Tex is my favorite.  There is just something neat about that place.

I registered online but didn't get an email or anything (except from Paypal).  Is there a way to confirm my registration.

I found my name on the "who is coming" page so I guess I am good. :)

I originally signed up for arriving on Sunday.  Can I show up on Saturday and just pay for the extra day then?

Bump. 40 days left for pre-registration. The RMSS weather was good this year, hopefully this will pass on to the Okie-Tex. We were skunked out on both events last year.

A reminder that Okie-Tex registration deadline is fast approaching.

Mailed registrations must be postmarked by this coming Saturday, 8-31. On-line registrations are due in by midnight Sunday, 9-1. Any payments due need to follow the same timetable. Of course on-site registration is still ok, but you will pay the higher price.

Hope to see a big crowd this year for much better weather!

Looks like attendance will be down a bit this year.  I know of a lot of friends of mine who are there every year that won't be this year, so that will make it a bit less fun for me.  Clear skies and warm weather would do a lot to put that in check though.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!  And looking forward to not having to break out the rain gear!

Got a pile of stuff for the swap meet... grin.gif

I am pretty sure you are right about attendance being down due to last years weather. This I am a bit puzzled by. Last year was a very rare set of circumstances that is unlikely to repeat. There hasn't been any unusual weather there so far this year. The weather looks great right now at 2.5 weeks away. Statistically there is less and less of a chance for rain as September marches on. I think it is reasonable to expect 5 nights of clear skies. This will be my first time seeing really dark skies. I can't wait. Look for me there. I'll likely be the only one there with a blue Rav4.

Word on the street is that there is an excess of 400 who have signed up thus far. Not bad at all.

Hope some of those big ruts got filled in.  They could be some good ankle twisters in the dark.

I'm looking forward to this year! Here's my video from last year in case you missed it. It was a wet year but I think we all still had fun.

Sept. 4.  310 registrants and 96 'partners/family' co-registrants.

So, 406.  Is this low or high?
