Scored a canon 6d for 600$, new, and tested its ISO performance over my old 550.
60 images at 5 minutes and ISO 3200 (unthinkable with a 550d) on an a avx with a vintage C5 and a f6.3 reducer.

Still noisy and I think I really need to get a faster telescope...

Nice work on M101, but also got some detail for other NGCs in the field (5474, 5422), and some PGCs as well.

What did you use for guiding ?

I use phd2 with a startravel 80 for guiding. Pixel size on the 2mp guide cam is 2.4 microns.

On a good night I can push it past 20 minutes.

I think, mainly depends on how well I can balance the Dec on the avx.

Deep sky imaging at F6.3 is hardly ideal but not that bad. It effects the noise level of your subs as well. However, I do not think that your image is "that" noisy. To me it looks more like color noise/botch. There are tools out there to deal with that.

In any ways, tons of details and nice color. Great work!
