Don't quite know if this belongs here or in Cats & Casses.
For those interested, AGOptical's "Convergent" series is a
collection of F/5 Harmer-Wynne OTAs of various sizes.
A break in the weather allowed me to use the FA12 to capture
110 minutes (22 x 300 seconds) of Ha using an ASI1600-Cool
and an Astrodon 5nm Ha filter. The image presented here is
JPEG and is reduced by more than half, so is less detailed than
the original FITS file, but still shows the potential of the scope.
It was taken under a 70%-illuminated Moon, fairly good (not great)
seeing, and with some water vapor in the air reducing transparency.
This nominal 12.5-inch (actually about 314mm) instrument shows
good promise for being able to capture a range of objects using
1570mm of focal length with high resolution, at a surprising
weight of only about 42 lbs. (before imaging train additions). It
has so far shown very good mechanical stability, easily holding
collimation during transport.
Excellent work from AGOptical/Dave Tandy.
