Hi folks, I've recently come across an ad for a replacement mount for the SkyGuider Pro and Star Adventurer from William Optics, which one would presume offers better performance than the base unit:

As such, I'm curious if anyone's had a chance to try one out, and if so, what's your take on it? It's pricey as W.O. stuff is nowadays, but I wonder if it offers significant improvement over the base units on both the SkyGuider Pro and Star Adventurer.

Thanks for any info on this.

The original part works just fine now that I’ve got it tuned. Personally, I’ll use the $200 on something more important like a dew heater.

I was thinking about that as well, tearing the original apart and rebuilding it. Someone here mentioned using synthetic dampening fluid, which would probably go a long way to making it work well.

For what it’s worth, I did purchase the counterweight extension bar; it was a good investment.
