I've been lent an ETX-105.  I'm missing the power cord with the coax tip.  What size is this coax tip?  My Losmandy and A-P mounts use 5.5 mm.  But that's not what the Meade uses.

You can also run it on batteries, I think it takes 8 AA's.

Thank you, but no.  It.s not 5.5.  My other mounts take 5.5.  This is definitely smaller.

Well sorry for you, it's supposed to be 5.5mm

Either your ETX has been modified, or the plug you have for your other mount isn't 5.5mm OD nor 2.5mm ID.

A quick googling reveals Losmandy plugs are 5.5mm OD 2.1mm ID.

That's why you can't get it to plug into the ETX.  Not because the OD is different, but the center pin diameter is different.

I don't think the adapter that was provided goes to the ETX.  I've ordered a real Meade 541 adapter off eBay.  In the meantime, I guess I'll have to use batteries.  Ugh!  But I was provided with a package of batteries, so maybe I should just roll with it.

Thank you, everyone.

I’d be very interested to hear your opinion of this scope once you’ve given it a bit of light. Good luck!
