Mosaic ... when to do within PixInsight flow?

At the Texas Star Party this year I may undertake a fun project ... 4 panel mosaic of the beautiful Antares region.  Should span about 7 by 10 degrees.  My camera is a modified Nikon D750 DSLR.

 

Having never attempted a mosaic before, at what point in processing should one do the mosaic stitching operation?  My favorite astro-pic program is PixInsight.  Also, do folks have favorite stitching programs?

 

I would imagine that each panel should be as identical as possible for number of exposures, exposure time, and cal data.

Have a great time! Process each panel as you would an individual image up to and including background correction. You can also initially crop each panel. Then combine, then proceed with your flow. Here's a great tutorial
