Just took delivery of a new 8 on the AVX mount.  First light tonight!!  Views were excellent although transparency was only average in N. Georgia.  I did break a cardinal rule and looked down the tube, as I was taking the scope down, with a white light on my head.  Saw a half thumb print on the primary.......  Let it go , or raise hell !?!?!?!

New, I would definitely complain. I'm no optician but I have read that finger grease can degrade coatings. Plus man, you bought a brand new scope, I don't think it'd be too much to ask for a pristine item.
