I'm just wondering how many people are waiting to purchase an Astro-Physics Mach2 mount?

I am on it, but will pass when it comes up since I got the AE on order for my 1100.

Every now and then I think I should replace my G11 but I can't think of anything that I want it to do that it doesn't do.  I've had it for about 17 years.  I'm growing old faster than it is.

Some days I would like to have go-to instead of push to.  Other days I think it's a lot of aggro.

Nothing compelling for my portable exclusively use case over my Mach1.   The encoders seem like buying oxygenated copper interconnects for your stereo with 0.0001% THD already.  I'm seeing limiting in my guiding.

For a permanent setup I could see it being a nice to have upgrade.

I want to be on the list but I am not sure I should have a more valuable mount than the car I use to get it to the dark-sky site.

My name was already on the notification list for the next run of the Mach1 mounts so it advanced to the Mach2 list when that was introduced.

The Mach2 looks to be an incredible mount, but the ones that I already have are so good, that there's no way I could ever justify it.

If I wasn't already pretty much set for life with my mounts, I'd be on the list for sure.

My friend is on the list for the Mach1 -> Mach2 since July last year. I’ll have to see it in action before committing. If I decide to get it, I’ll have to sell either my Mach1 to upgrade to encoders or my AP1100AE because it’s heavy. Decisions decisions!

I'm in the same boat, but I will take a much better mount over a much better car, but that's just me!

Depending on the length of the list, it's possible that I might get a better car first. crazy.gif

In my dreams. undecided.gif

I am waiting to see if AP will offer anything cheaper for the 1100/1600 line as far as absolute encoders go. Since I use only SCTs with Hyperstar it's not worth the high cost now as I would get minimal return on that investment. I'm already getting really good tracking and the AE would not help with the issues regarding a moving primary mirror and differential flexure. I'm actually really impressed with the goto accuracy on the AP keypad controller. Despite only doing one star alignments the accuracy is  just as good as my previous mounts that were doing muti star model building.

Way out of my price range, but would love to have one for kicks. Just don't need GO-TO.  Wished mount makers would offer non GO-TO mounts at a cheaper price.

Gosh just got a Mach1 last fall and loving it.  Not on the list at this time, but could change based on peoples reviews once the Mach2 starts going out!  Scott

I’m on it. I want to be in a position to turn it down so I can feel like a big shot.

Does anyone have any idea about how long it will take for you to be notified, if, say, you submit your email today?

I certainly hope that the wait won't be too awful long.

I just saw the price of a Mach2GTO on anacortes website:

https://www.buyteles...to-mount-199063

And it is $7795.99.

The price isn't posted on the astro-physics website yet, so I don't know how valid this is.

Well, that 99 cents is the killer. I’m out.

Strange, the info on that page are all Mach 1, no mentioning of encoder, weight capacity is only 45lb... etc, as if it just replaces the price and the picture.

I would desperately love a goto GEM but the 31 year old Pentax GEM I have now has a lower PE (+/-1.2" (but no PEC))   than the Mach2 and I saw some things in  the specifications that bothered me like a worm wheel made out of aluminum.  I am looking at a new Vixen GEM that is similar in size and capacity to the Mach 2 with a slightly lower PE of +/- 2.8" and has a proper worm wheel made out of brass.  Since both the Vixen and the AP Mach 2 have yet to hit the market, it is difficult to know how they compare pricewise.  I admire AP for the quality of their products but am a little annoyed that they advertise a mount at a certain price but if you pay only that price you get a mount that is essentially unuseable since it is without counter weights, software, hand controlers among other things.

I'm just hoping that the price of used Mach1s will fall further so I could afford one :p

The Mach 2 has effectively 0 PE. It uses absolute encoders.
