I tested my new ASI294mcpro on May 11th under the growing moon and shot some additional Ha data on the 14th to illustrate the Ha-active regions in the spiral arms. Though the Ha data can not be compared in quality with those from my ASI1600mmpro (only one of 4 pixels in the RGGB matrix) it was by far good enough to show what I had wanted. Under the balance I am very happy with the RGB quality of that cam. It has that green hue but on the other hand way more dynamic range than the b&w sister. This does the stars very good. Also there was no microdiffraction discernable around the bright stars. In the 300 s exposure  ha images a big bright amp glow "star" appeared at the right frame side. It should be no problem to eliminate it with proper darks (I did not need darks or flats here for this image!). For just about 3 1/2 hrs of RGB the noise level was low in my eyes and the result appears quite clean to me. This enabled me to work on a deep background and I could reveal a lot of tiny galaxies and stuff - each time I inspect the wide image in full resolution I see more :-)

The data are:

ASI294mcpro on a TS Photoline Triplet Apo 130/910 mm

401 x 30s RGB OSC gain 125 T -20°C

37 x 300s Ha gain 130 T-20°C

APP, PS, LR

I let APP split of the HA channel (this is an option in the APP settings) to use it in the RGB combine tool with 50% of the red channel. Then masked the Ha in the background during PS processing.

Hallo Paul, gemessen an der Reichweite von CN sind wir ja quasi Nachbarn smile.gif .

Viele Grüße zurück aus Ascheberg und auf klare westfälische Nächte!
