I have a 6” Mak Cass and I’m looking for an inexpensive carrying/storage case solution. I’ve looked online and the least expensive soft case imI can find is $99. The scope and mount have me maxed out and I can’t cover that. What do you use to carry your Cass that might work for me? Many thanks!

Go to Home Depot and check out the portable Tool boxes.

Use some foam to cushion the insides

Take a look at the Apache cases at Harbor Freight....they are knock offs of Pelican cases. I use one for a ZEQ25 and it's been through a lot without any damage to the mount.

Orion used to have a nice soft case for their 150mm maks. You might advertise in the CCs to find a used one in good shape.

How do you like the Meade 150 MAK?  Have you had a chance to observe with it yet?  I own the LX85 8” ACF SCT and have had it out twice so far.  Optics seem to be very good.

I just did this very thing for my 150mm classical Cassegrain. The toolbox is airtight and a couple of dessicant packs tossed in keeps the OTA nice and dry after an evening of use.

I just made a dew shield for the scope by cutting a sheet of Neoprene Sponge Foam Rubber Sheet Roll - 15in x 60in (1/4in Thick) to size, and some Velcro strips. Flattened out it fits perfectly over the tube, inside the box, making it safe and sound all around.

Bill, First light a couple of nights ago. Fantastic views. Perfect collimation. Horrific mirror shift! I’ve since read about several procedures to initiate, and techniques to use to mitigate the shift and will be trying those out at the next opportunity. I’ll update.
