Lumicon 2 Inch UHC Filter is unbeatable for revealing nebulosity.  This is achieved by passing three nebula emission lines – the two doubly ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm) and the H-beta line (486nm) – while blocking light-pollution and Sky Glow.  The result is superb views of the Orion, Lagoon, Swan and other extended nebulae.

Lumicon filters remain the world’s best and strictest quality control standards are employed throughout the production process. Each Ultra High Contrast Filter is individually inspected and scanned with the percentage of light transmittance of the OIII and H-beta emission lines.

The 1.25" version of this filter didn't say "Gen 3" previously.   Is this a new version of the UHC or has only the frame been changed?

Gen. 3 has referred to their new high-end premium O-III filters, recently

Though this new UHC is a superb filter, it doesn't really have a generation number (it would be in multiple digits if it did, LOL).

If it is marked Gen.3, it is merely to differentiate it from what has come before.

Yes, Don is correct. There are many that have come before this one. The Gen3 is the most recent version you can get.

In practice you would combine images from this filter with images from a Ha filter right? Are there any resources on getting the optimal combination and how to do it?

By imaging separately through an H-a filter and the UHC, and combining by stacking, you could get some excellent images.
You couldn't do it simultaneously, of course.
