ps:  the new one with Aston Martin grey is stunning.  smile.gif   And the new rack and pinion focuser should be wonderful.

I assume it is the same Focuser as the AT102ED, if so it will not disappoint.

Linda,  Thanks for the reminder about the white tubed AT80ED. I had a feeling I'd seen one but wasn't sure.

It would be interesting to hear about the genealogy of the 3 versions of the AT80ED. My original black tubed model appears to be more mechanically similar to the AT66 in Linda's picture.

Anyway, the latest model with it's lower price combined with a simple mount like the AT Voyager seems to be a heck of deal.

Looks like the AT102's little brother!

So how does this AT-80 compare physically to the AT-92. I have the AT-92, the AT-80 looks similar? Does it use the same tube and tube rings? Does it  have a sliding dew shield? Is the paint a glossy white like the AT-102 or the pebble finish like the AT-92. I had an AT102 and it was a very nice scope. My AT-92 has a much more robust focuser though they both are the Aston Martin grey.

The dew shield is retractable, as it says in the description:  https://www.astronom...ractor-ota.html

See post #71 just above for a picture of it.

An email from Astronomics last Monday said they are "“on the water” and should be shipping in 2-3 weeks."

Anybody hear anything yet?  I touched base at the beginning of this week and was told that arrival of the boat from China was expected any day.   I feel like one of my kids, waiting for Santalol.gif.  The weather needs to clear up so I can use the scopes I have and not think about the one on order!!!! Hope everyone has a smooth transition to the Holidays!

Cheers!

Well...maybe. You do have a good point.  But the gold knob smells sort of like a Feather Touch.  grin.gif

If I end up picking up a Lunt LS-80 for H-Alpha solar work, I will be adding this little AT80ED as well so I can image WL and Cak in the AT80ED side by side with the Lunt.

Same aperture and focal length - I won't need to resize images.

As per their last email:

People want to know what is coming in on shipment that should now land mid December.
AT80EDT
AT115EDT
AT130EDT (we have one left)
AT152EDT
AT80ED
AT72EDII
AT2D
ATF
and other accessories.

Doesn't look like Santa will be delivering any of these by Christmas. Oh well, local weather has lots of clouds for the next two weeks.

They are currently sitting in a customs clearance warehouse patiently waiting their turn to get a stamp from the US Govt. so they can be shipped out to our waiting customers.  This time of year slows down all clearance into the US.  I apologize for the delay.

I'm guessing that shipping notices are imminent.  I am so anxious to see one in the hands of someone here.

I want one, but don't need one.  I have an earlier version.      The call of Aston Martin grey is beckoning.    Oh .....
