Very nice! I remember, fifty years ago... when I worked at B&L. I told the local college that we would coat their full-thickness 24-inch telescope mirror for them... "for free". The guys at work had no appreciation for how heavy that is, and we would be coating it upside down, over the e-beam sources (enhanced aluminum).

 

We did a fine job, but I think they would have second thoughts regarding favors like that in the future.

 

Years later I worked at Kodak, where 24-inch optics were considered small, and few meters was common. When I retired 5+ years ago, they were running a lot of the big ones thru the (big) coater! Almost entirely mirrors... lens elements that big are very rare!   Tom

Oh, it's that lens! Harris did the 3.5-meter SM here... in Rochester, NY. I worked at that facility right up 'till retirement! Still occasionally visit.    Tom
