I have purchased a Questar Field model and wonder if anyone has a quick solution to attaching the scope to a Losmandy or Vixen style mounting plate? AP 400 GOTO mount.

Assuming that the Field model has a block on the bottom with a 1/4-20 hole this should work:

Is that the standard Vixen style mount?

Congratulations on getting a Questar! I know you mentioned in that thread on the Q7 Astro that you have been aspiring to own one. Let us know about it when you receive your field model.

It would have a tendency to twist and you'd need to also to install a dowell or pin to keep it aligned.

I also have a field model which is now on a fork mount.

When first using it I attached it using the 1/4- 20 pin to a Zeiss dovetail. To prevent the twisting when tightening and prevent scratching/marring the bottom of the field scope I glued a short section of rubber from a bike inner tube to the dovetail.

It worked a treat. The dovetail I used was a Zeiss 08 dove, similar in size to a Vixen.

OK, I will definitely let you know when the scope arrives and will work on figuring out a way to stop twisting of the scope. Gluing a small piece of rubber from an inner tube or, perhaps a piece of leather from an old notebook just might work. Thanks!!
