Hello,

Is there any way to connect via Bluetooth the SkyWatcher EQ6-R mount to a Windows 10 PC or laptop? The Shoestring Astronomy has product BT2EQ6 but that is only DB-9 port compatible whereas my SkyWatcher EQ6-R has RJ45 type port for the Hand Controller:

Has anybody tried product BT2EQ5 with SkyWatcher EQ6-R mount since that product is listed to be used for EQ5 mount?

Many thanks in advance for your time.

Nikul

The BT2EQ6 and BT2EQ5 connect directly to the mount in place of the hand controller. So you do not hook up the band controller. With a new EQ6-R you would use the BT2EQ5.

Then on the computer you use ASCOM, EQMOD and a planetarium program like Carted du Ciel or Stellarium. Your computer needs to have a BlueTooth adapter too.

Many thanks Pauls72 for your prompt response. So that means that even if BT2EQ5 is listed to work with EQ-5 type mounts, it still can work with EQ-6 type mounts just because the connector is RJ45 type, the hand controller firmware is the same for EQ-5 and EQ-6 type mounts and it's the same SkyWatcher ASCOM driver for the EQ-5 and EQ-6 type mounts. This makes me buy that Bluetooth connector as my Windows 10 laptop has Bluetooth connector...

The only difference between the BT2EQ5 and BT2EQ6 adapters is the connector.

Pretty much everything you need to know about EQMOD is here:

Thank you for further clarification... I ordered BT2EQ5 and will update here after trying it... smile.gif

I use the Pegasus Astro Bluetooth box.  Works perfectly,   Bit of Velcro to secure it and a short cat5 cable.

Many thanks for your response. I also found it but couldn't find any source to buy from. Do you have any link to buy it from?

There is a link to all their dealers on the website.  They have retailers around the world and I’ve generally found they nearly all have stock once the initial race is over after they launch a new product.

Here's a picture of mine attached to my mount.  The Cat5 cable is home made - couldnt see the point of having it longer than required!
