Dear observers,

I have never seen Noctilucent clouds until last night. From the reports, I knew that this year is a good one for this.

I drove out near midnight to my rural observation point for observing two comets. The way to there is straight north. Still in the city, I saw the clouds. When I was there, they shone silvery slightly eastern of the north point.

I first observed my comets. Unfortunately, the apparition of the clouds got wweake in this hour. Nevertheless I sketched it. At the beginning of my session the span around 5 degrees, at the end it was only half of this. The star in the image is ß Aurigae.

I hope you enjoy the sketch.

Dear Uwe,

great observation and a fine sketch. I could imagine that this is indeed the first sketch of noctilucent clouds here at CN.

Thanks for sharing with us

Very nice Uwe!
I'd so love to see these but for now your sketch will have to suffice.
Thank you!
Regards and clear skies,
Randolph

I have seen already several times NLCs (from my home at 51°N). I'm very happy they are not affected by lightpollution! But I never dare to sketch them, too complex. So, Uwe, you did a great job.
