Hey all!

What's the correct way to connect the Celestron motor focuser with Sharpcap with CPWI running in the background? Sharp cap doesnt want to connect with the focuser while CPWI is running. Is there a special "CPWI Focuser ASCOM" ?

Currently im running the focuser to AUX and USB to Laptop. And ASCOM is set to "CPWI" for controlling the mount, and the Focuser is set to "USB Celestron Focuser"

Cheers!
Tobias

If you check the Celestron web page for the Focuser, under "Support and Download"

you can download the Ascom Focuser for the unit.

Load that.

Then in Sharpcap select that driver for the focuser and have it "load automatically" on camera connection.

Be sure to select the correct Com port for the Focuser connection.

Startup Procedure to use Sharpcap with CPWI.

Power up scope

Connect USB for Ascom to Focuser

Run Sharpcap and connect to your camera. It should also auto connect to your Focuser.

Then startup and run CPWI.

This should let everything run OK.

Take care

Steve

Thank you for the pre flight manual procedures.

I followed your steps but only managed to get it to work for a brief moment before loosing connection. Tried it a bunch of times, but its very intermittent.

(Hmm power issues? port conflicts?). Not stable enough for any reliable capturing.

There seem to be a bit of conflict with CPWI and the focuser since there's no "CPWI Focus ASCOM"

When I connect with USB only and no Hand Control in the chain, it finds everything quickly and with confidence.

I might just run the focuser manually in CPWI and simply forego the autofocus feature in Sharp Cap

Cheers!

Tobias
