So i wanted to extend the hand controller cables on my two nextstar scopes but just like 6-8 inches and have it the matching coiled type cable. So i bought a dead hand control unit and cut the coiled cable in half. Bought a cheap pair of crimpers at home depot and crimped on some ends. now both extended coiled cables for hand units are the perfect length. I bought a celestron GPS unit for my 6 inch nexstar SE and used the back plate of the dead hand unit to mount GPS unit to it with zip cable/wire ties and put in where the original hand unit went, i don't keep my hand controller there but on front of arm instead. i wanted the GPS unit up high as possible with no metal etc between it and the sky. i also can remove it in like 10 seconds if i decide to travel with scope. The GPS unit is not a necessary item just a nice to have item.
