Hello there! My best friend's birthday is getting closer and, after many months thinking about what should I gift to somebody who shares none of my interests, I found out a common point between us both: our love for collecting all kinds of minerals and rocks during our childhood. I decided to help him rekindle that collector's flame by giving him something truly special: a genuine Lunar or Martian meteorite ― or both, if I can afford it!

During my research I've found sellers such as Meteorites-For-Sale (https://www.meteorites-for-sale.com) and The Space Collective (https://thespacecollective.com). Between the two of them, I personally believe the former seems to be more trustworthy, as it is apparently the source from which the latter is acquiring their Lunar and Martian meteorites. Another option I am considering is Galactic Stone & Ironworks (http://galactic-stone.com), as they've got quite an amazing collection and great artwork on their displays!

Could you tell me which one of these websites is the most reliable? Are there any other sources to acquire those products?

On a more personal note, I'd like to know what you think about this gift. The people I've asked about their opinions think it will mean spending too much for too little, but I can't shake away the feeling that this will be a truly epic and special gift. Are there any other products of the same kind that would make a better option for you? He deserves the best I can afford.

Thank you so much in advance for taking your time to help me!

Welcome to Cloudynights!

Galatic Stone & Ironworks is a Vendor here on CN (click "Vendor").

There's also Ray (107) who's also legit and I know personally.

For a given amount of money, size and rarity are generally mutually exclusive. The more common the type is, the more affordable larger specimens become. Large easily available species, Campo del Cielo for instance, can be obtained for a fraction of less common varieties. Some collectors prefer rarity, and for the same cost, you're going to get a smaller piece. Others prefer something you can hold in your hand. Smaller specimens allow one to collect a wider variety of types, hand specimens have a different attraction. It seems to be a matter of taste.
