Last night I had a chance to compare two filters that I have been using to do imaging from my backyard in a Bortle (8-9) suburb of Dallas. The Optolong L-Pro is a LP filter with stop band centered on frequencies common in street lighting. The Optolong L-eNhance is a multi-narrowband filter with narrow passbands at Ha, Oiii, and Hb emission frequencies. I captured 80 minute images of M20 (Trifid) with each filter and used the same PixInsight processes to create the images shown here. The processed images are on the left and the raw captured data is on the right. The background in the raw L-Pro image is seven times brighter than that in the raw L-eNhance image. Both processed images are not too shabby but I had to work to get the L-Pro image free of gradients and artifacts.

Thanks for taking the time to do the test - this type of comparison, with the same equipment under the same conditions and with the same process, are the most useful.

Thanks for the data. I may be considering the L-eNhance

Thanks for the comparison. I have an L-Pro that I always use. I am definitely going to get an L-eNhance though. I guess the eNhance was blocking a bit of the blue portion of the Triffid?

Yes, the L-eNhance lower passband barely overlaps the 249MC's blue Bayer filter.

FWIW, I actually prefer the L-Pro, at least for this image run... I think the central core of the Trifid is more balanced, and as someone mentioned, not having as much of the Blue present left some things behind in the L'Enhance version.  Again though you also processed them the same, and perhaps the post processing routine needs to be different for the L'Enhance.

Same here, i prefer that from L-Pro over that from L-eNhance filter, but that could be me.

For now, i bought LP CLS filter from IDAS, i don't know why, but that one it mentioned that it can lower or help for LED issue, so that i bought it, 2 reviewers mentioned that it helped them in processing with the filter, so i just trusted that, while all other filters including L-Pro isn't that much good for LED but for vapor sodium or halogen or whatever light pollution non LED, and i know it is very difficult with LED, but i prefer to have a filter that is more design to at least minimize that LED issue than another filter which is so bad with LED but better for another LP, my area is nearly turned into LED zone nowadays, so this L-Pro or eNhance aren't gonna make any good for me if i will have a color camera, if IDAS can't then those two can't.

Thank you for posting this.  Are the l-enhance and l-pro parfocal with each other?

I have a full spectrum modified Canon RP. I live in a Bortle 5/6 zone and wanted to know if I can use an Optolong L-eNhance clip-on filter on the Canon RP body to get more Ha and OIII data. Thank you.
