After having an amazing view of Mars through my FC100DZ, what's left to do but take pictures of the scope?

The DZ has a 1.6X extender-Q attached, with a Baader Zeiss BBHS prism, 2X Ultima SV barlow and a pair of 35mm Pseudo Masuyama's.

That is an f/5.1?  Looks too long for that.

Agree. Looks like native f/7. Maybe with a reducer???

Those Imaging Stars are 6 element astrographs so longer tubes with reducing and flattening elements built in.

I've been having loads of fun organizing the cables for a wireless set up and can't wait to get the new gear outside!

You're able to achieve focus with the Q-extender + 2x barlow? I tried adding my 2x Powermate to the binoviewer optical train, which included a 1.8x Glasspath Corrector, but things kinda went haywire gottahurt.gif

Can you still achieve focus in the binoviewer without the 2x barlow?

Yes, with the DZ the extender-Q reaches focus with and without the barlow, and without having to mess around unscrewing extension tubes in the dark. I suspect the same would apply to the DF and DL, but because the DC has a shorter focuser travel, its necessary to mess with the Q's extension tubes.

I want an AT102ED, but they haven't been in stock. I was thinking of using my iOptron ZEQ25 mount placed on a Berlebach Unit wooden tripod as a show piece refractor.

I don't envy your cold winters, but I do envy your dark skies.  When we camp at Cathedral Pines on Flagstaff Lake, I bring an 80 mm refractor to view in NELM 7 skies.  A real once-a-year treat.

I wanted one too but couldn't wait. I found a used Lunt102ED which I have come to find is almost identical to the AT102ED. Great scopes.

Given the cold temps and the dark skies, winter observing often feels like you are sitting in space. Thankfully, I enjoy winter. Flagstaff Lake is a beautiful area... I hike up there often.

I really wanted to optimize my TS 50mm apo, so that it was lighter to be used as a finder, and ditch the focuser, which has a little shift in it. Instead I went to a carbon tube, epoxied and screwed to aluminum fittings on each end (waiting for the special screws i ordered to show up) married to a custom 2" diagonal sporting a 2" helical focuser I machined to fit. Just have to mount a dovetail!
