The badge is practically the same as the Sears 6335 v2 which is a sort of hain't grey and has the same albedo as aluminum. Guido (oldmanastro) got a Sears 6335 for Christmas, but it was badged SCOPE - your scope in fact, and it is hain't blue like the future 6344. I would guess they ran out of inventory during the space race, and that was the end of hain't grey. The next AO Sears 3" was the 6339, which was black and silver. After the Tasco 10TE, the 6339 is probably seen most often. There was another edition, the 6339a. I don't remember how they differed. That was also silver/black.

I had this book as a child. I also remember it came with the Sears 6344 SYW telescope. Had to buy it online as I don't know where those are.
