its on a home built dobsonian mount made from telescope parts of old and extra wood i had.

Very nicely done!

 

How did you mount the encoder on the altitude bearing?  Those GSO bearings have about a 3/4 inch diameter tapered hole through the shaft underneath the clutch knobs.  Can you still adjust the clutch on that side?

mike, it have been so long age when i modified the bearing that i will have to get back with you later to see if i can remember how i did it but yes i can adjust  the tension on that side. i haven't taken it out yet the see how well it works because of the moon and clouds. but i think it will work just fine. i put a lot of time into it and thought it through carefully. don
