As the night time temperatures got higher in Phoenix since spring I found my 224MC camera would shutdown after a few minutes. Night time temperatures are in the 80s Fahrenheit and camera temperature was getting up over 40c as shown on Firecapture.

. Would this be the camera shutting down for thermal protection? Would a fan or something give me some relief, or do I really need a cooled camera in the summer for Phoenix, Arizona? It appears ZWO is discontinuing the cooled version of some models, including this one.

I can't speak for your camera but with electronics, any air movement is helpful.

Are you trying to cool your camera without external 12VDC?

I have a regular 224MC that has no cooling. Nor does it have a 12v plug. It gets all it's power from the USB port. It started shutting off when nights started staying in the 80s and I'm trying to figure out if it's just too hot out and that I should have a cooled version instead or what I can do.

I would e-mail ZWO support and ask them.  Provide details then ask your question.  Also ask the forum.  If it was a Cooled version I could have helped.  Sorry...
