Recent and not so recent images of the quiet sun in H-a, CaK and in 393nm continuum filters.
At the images taken with 393nm continuum filter you can easily see numerous filirgees between granulation cells.
The key factor of their successful imaging is very short exposure time which was possible due to a very high transmission of the used DERF filter at this spectral area and due to a very high transmission of the narrow band 393nm continuum filter.
The CaK image shows so many shadows and details when imaging through a larger aperture!
And how busy the sun at a smaller scale level! You can see mini-activity associated with bushes of spiculaes and a small dark filament (a prominence between us and the sun sufrace)!
Use a larger telescope with appropriate DERF and you will stay in the game even during sun's quiet period!
