While looking into the Leitz 30mm 88° eyepiece, I found out that Kasai make or made a copy.

Has anyone used a Kasai or compared it to the Leitz?

Google is your friend:

However, it would have had to be a LOT better than a Leitz to interest me.  It had far too much astigmatism at f/5, let alone anything faster.

Thanks Don, I did Google but your link, & that site were not listed scratchhead2.gif

So my search continues for a 30mm UWA Meade...

I don't hear good reviews in my country.
Looking at the reviews of the owners, there is an impression that the image of off-axis is bad.

So my search continues for a 30mm UWA Meade...

Get an ES 30mm 82deg eyepiece. Same optics as the Meade. After fungus and lens coating failure ate my 30mm UWA, I got the ES to replace it. Every so often I get the urge to open it up and put the optics into my UWA housing :)

As an added bonus, my TNVC night vision adapter fits onto the eye end, so I actually end up using it more for night vision astronomy.

Run away!

I bought one many years ago. Terrible correction in any scope I've put it in. Stars start bloating a short distance from the center and smear out into rainbow blobs half way to the edge of the field. It's so bad I've just kept it in my observatory on the shelf because I'd feel bad selling it to anyone at any price. Yeah, it's that bad.
