Newbie question... 8” 1218mm reflector will arrive in a couple days, but only has a 25mm eyepiece. So, I’m looking at a 2x Barlow and a 6mm, 8mm or 9mm Plossl eyepiece. The problem I keep seeing is you have to remove the optics of the Barlow, losing its 2x magnification, to screw on a filter. Can anyone point me towards a Barlow that does not require the removal of the optics, if you want to install a filter, OR, can you attach the filter to the eyepiece that’s going to be inserted into the Barlow? (Makes me think it would screw up the focal length of the eyepiece).

LOL.

No, simply thread the filter on the eyepiece and insert it into the Barlow.

If it is a color filter.

If it is a nebula filter, remember to keep the magnification of your scope low, under 80X, when using a nebula filter.
