Hi,

I am considering the CELESTRON focus motor for my Edge 8 and have 2 questions.

https://www.celestro...-sct-and-edgehd

1) is it precise enough to get the critical focus zone ?

2)  it says “Enables autofocusing with a camera and third-party software via ASCOM.”

has anyone  tried this ?  I am looking at using it with Maxim DL V6.

i appreciate your help.

thanks

sam

I use it on my C8 RASA, like it.  It's a bit fiddly to install, not bad.  The RASA focuser is so geared down (no need for much focus range) that it's overkill for the CFZ.  It autofocused well with Voyager.

Hi,

Thank you very much for the help.

The thread is huge, with a lot of issues discussed.

Overall it looks to me like there were a few bugs that need to be fixed, but once this is overcome, it is an accurate focus motor which is good value, and can be used with third party software through ASCOM.  Temperature compensation might be a good enhancement by CELESTRON next production.

Does anyone know if the screw length issue, which requires a washer, has been fixed by CELESTRON in their current production ?

Another question is whether the focus motor interferes with a filter wheel / camera, because it seems to take up quite a bit of space.

once again, my appreciation for your support.

thanks

sam
