Hello,

This bellow is my latest sketch of my favorite nebula, the Lagoon. I deployed an extended amount of efforts capturing a maximum of the faint stars surrounding what I could see of the nebula. Putting them at the right place was also a difficult task, an harsh averted vision exercise (it was worth it). The star portion was done using no nebula filter so I could capture a maximum of faint little stars. The nebula portion was done using my 2" NPB Omega filter which greatly enhanced the nebula, that filter is so good, I still can't believe it.

Conditions were close to home, pretty high light pollution between bortle 6 ot 7 and the object at low elevation. Seeing and transparency were both above average.

The view was amazing with or without filter and using my 200x1000 plus my very best eyepiece, the ES 34mm for widest field possible.  I could capture around 150 stars for that sketch and there was even more in averted vision.

I hope some of you will like it.

Nice rendering.  Kudos for braving urban skies and making the best of it!

Thank John

Observation it was from outside of Montreal around 25kms away from the center of the dome. The light pollution dome is extreme, It's hurting me badly even at 45kms of distance.

I hate Montreal...

At 25kms I can lightly see the milky way but nothing too impressive.. it needs 30 minutes of dark adaptation too.

Great sketch!  I just learned of the Lagoon Nebula a few hours ago and then I saw this!  I hope to try to view it for the first time soon.

That's good resolution and contrast for light polluted skies.  I especially like the clear dark nebulosity breaking up the cloud and giving it that distinctive shape.  It looks like your conditions weren't quite good enough to make out the iconic swan shape, but you seem to have made the best of it.
