I realized yesterday night that I never sketched the two big clusters in Hercules.

So I decided to correct that tonight.

I spent 4 hours on these to record as precisely as possible the position of all the stars I could resolve (and I could resolve a lot...).

I used my regular graphite and black pencils on white paper and inverted the colors after. The reason is that I do not have the equivalent pencils in white (for my black paper) and needed the extra small/precise 0.05 one.

I had some accidents with traces that should not be here :-(
Let's say that it's because it's directly from the field.

I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you.

I will redraw them (like an exact copy) to get rid of all the unsteady points. But on top of my ladder with my drawing board on the ladder's handle it was not exactly ideal :D

Very nice sketching.

Impressive work. What was the magnification?

Oh yes I completely forgot the technical details... My bad.

There it is:

Location: my backyard (San Rafael, CA)

LP: Bortle 5~6

Seeing: average

Transparency: good

Telescope: Orion SkyQuest XX16g (unplugged, it's for my Astronomical Society logs for the Messier Challenge)

Eyepiece: TeleVue Delos 17.3mm

Barlow: x2 Orion barlow

Magnification: x208

I also just checked on a picture of M13 that some of my stars are inverted. That's a bummer but overall I'm satisfied with the precision (as accuracy was my goal).
